The Chrono-Matic 50 is a bold reissue rooted in Hamilton's racing chronographs of the 1970s. With its oversized case, bi-compax layout, and signature red accents, it has a distinctly mechanical presence.
For this photos, I chose a dark grey background to echo the watch's mostly monochrome palette. The goal was to keep the tone low-key, allowing the red highlights — of the buttons, on the chronograph hands, and inner tachymeter ring — to subtly command attention without visual noise from the surroundings.
Lighting was angled and directional to bring out the brushed steel surfaces and emphasize the dial's contrast — matte black against crisp white subdials. The strong case lines cast confident shadows, reinforcing the watch's industrial heritage.
Framing was especially important with the Chrono-Matic's oversized proportions. I alternated between wider context shots and very tight macro angles to highlight key features like the pusher design, date window at 6 o'clock, and the curvature of the case profile.
