A graceful expression of 1950s watch design, the Omega OT2872 chronograph from 1962 combines elegant proportions with rare design cues that make it especially distinctive among vintage Omega pieces.

Crafted in solid 18k gold, the 34.5mm case features long, finely shaped lugs (20mm wide) that give the watch a refined and balanced stance on the wrist. The dial, with its warm champagne patina and vertically brushed texture, shifts character with every movement — appearing luminous under certain angles and more subdued or matte at others.

Adding to its uniqueness are the gold "coffin-style" hour markers — a rare feature found on only a handful of Omega models from the era — paired with alpha-style hands and a polished applied gold Omega logo. These sculpted, faceted markers give the dial depth and a distinct visual rhythm.

Photographing this watch required a patient and precise approach. The vertical brushing on the dial responds dramatically to the light direction — a few degrees of tilt can change the entire feel of the image. To maintain texture and dimension, I used carefully diffused lighting and adjusted angles continuously to reveal the subtle tonal shifts across the dial. Macro and angled shots bring attention to the rare markers, the soft curvature of the alpha hands, and the polished surfaces of the case — all while preserving the watch's aged warmth and natural patina.
